Outokumpu signed a steel delivery agreement with Vantrunk, a specialist in pipeline and cabling solutions. Vantrunk recently supplied more than 100 kilometres of stainless steel cable ladders and 300 kilometres of cable trays for the Gorgon project.
Extreme temperatures ranging from –50 to +450 degrees Celsius set strict strength requirements for the ladders and trays. The stainless steel strip for them will be delivered by Outokumpu’s Tornio Works in Finland. The company’s service centre in Sheffield, UK, will slit and cut the strip to length.
The Gorgon project involves the construction of gas fields 130 kilometres off Australia’s western coast. The area has liquefied natural gas resources of more than a trillion cubic metres.
Outokumpu, the Finnish specialist in stainless steel and high performance alloys, employs around 16,000 people in more than 40 countries. The company’s head office is in Espoo, Finland.
