‘Talvi’ is a body of work created by Australian born photographer Dan Freene.
The exhibition is from a trip he took with his Finnish wife to her homeland Suomi in the coldest months of winter in 2010. The average temperature was around Minus 21 Degrees C and as an Australian he found Finland to be exceptionally cold, but phenomenally beautiful.
Dan observed that even the most simple of things took on an abstract surreal quality, and fuzed with the soft delicate Arctic light, has created a world that feels like being on another planet. Dan has printed the work large, and has presented the prints beautifully onto cotton rag paper.
“Talvi’ Photographic Exhibition runs 4th to 16th May 2012 at Silverpixel Studio, Unit 1, 39 Phillip Street, Newtown NSW 2042. The studio is open Mon – Fri 4 – 6pm, Sat – Sun 10am – 6pm.
